First I would like to say this is a wonderful opportunity to embark on allowing me to expand my design horizons and being able to learn from those who are already successful and in the career field i want to pursue. I was able to crank out some wonderful designs to showcase my talent. This was not easy being that the first day of the program I was not inspired. Instead of giving up, I walked around and looked at various things i felt had a significant draw that pulled me in, I also sat down with fellow students in the program and just talked about what we fashion would be like if we were in the industry and and had the ability to set new trends.
My fellow students and i all agreed that our designs shouldn’t only look good to us, it should catch the consumers eye and be special to them as well. After talking about designs i was actually able to come up with a few designs and got opinions on them and everybody i asked to receive opinions from connected with the pieces in their own personal way. Fashion is a peoples industry and in order to be successful you have to listen first and then create. I want all of my pieces to resonate, linger, and spark conversation topics. I feel that my designs not only important to those who love fashion but those who like to think as well. Theres nothing like an educated person with a dope and fresh look.
The thing that inspired me the most was the culture I grew up in. I came up under the Kanye backpack and retro Jordan era where it was cool to look different but also let people know exactly where you were from. I am also inspired by the looks of artists around me and how they display their various looks. Those two things inspire me the most when I’m creating and designing and as long as I keep the people in my vision i feel that my ideas will come to life and last a very ling time.
